White PVC waterproof roller bathroom blinds in a large traditional bathroom

White roller blinds are our bestselling bathroom blinds overall, as these will go with a bathroom of literally any colour and help to make the room look light, bright, and fresh, particularly if the room is small. However, what colour is most flattering in any individual bathroom depends a lot on your bathroom!

For instance, if your bathroom is small and fairly dark, a dark blind probably won’t help matters. This blog post will tell you what blinds are popular in bathrooms and what colour is best for bathroom blinds in different situations.

What colour is best for bathroom blinds based on popularity?

The most popular/bestselling bathroom blinds are white. Neutral-coloured blinds in lighter shades are also very popular, such as off-white, cream, and stone, and after this comes grey, another popular colour for bathroom blinds.

Something we’re seeing a lot of more of late too is people choosing black blinds for bathrooms. If black isn’t on your radar as a bathroom blind colour, this might seem a bit odd; but you’re probably aware (even if only peripherally) that dark, shiny bathrooms are becoming quite popular at the moment, often with marbled or slate finishes and lots of chrome to break up the darkness.

A bathroom with this sort of theme needs a dark blind to match.

What colour is most flattering in a bathroom that’s small?

If your bathroom is on the small side (and particularly if it doesn’t get a lot of natural light or looks pokey and dingy) I recommend sticking to light-coloured blinds. Whether you choose blinds to match or complement the colour of your bathroom suite or go with a neutral, stick to the lighter end of the colour spectrum.

However, if you only have a tiny window that doesn’t get much natural light anyway, a dark-themed blind can’t suck brightness from the room if there’s none there to begin with, and can be balanced with the use of warm artificial lighting and a dark blind to create a welcoming, cosy space.

What colour is most flattering in a bathroom that’s large?

If your bathroom is large, you have a greater range of choices without having to take into account the risk of the blind swamping your room, or being too dark or too overpowering. That said, if your bathroom is light coloured and cool toned, an icy-white or very bright light-coloured blind can make it feel a bit colder if it actually is on the chilly side! On the flipside, the same approach done right can make your bathroom feel really spacious and airy.

Dark bathroom blinds are easier to work with in a large bathroom than a small bathroom too, plus patterned blinds and those with a large print or design won’t overpower the window or room as a whole.

Again, you can match your blinds to your bathroom suite if your suite is coloured, or use bold/bright blinds with a neutral theme too to add some depth and interest to the room.

What colour is best for bathroom blinds in a room with a neutral theme?

A neutrally coloured/themed bathroom really gives you the greatest range of options, as you can stick with neutrals for your blinds or use the blank slate that the room gives you as a basis for the colour and design of blind of your choice.

If you do choose a blind with a design or pattern, be a little mindful of the ergonomics of it if the print is large and the window small. The same applies if you choose faux-wood bathroom blinds with large slats; these are best kept for larger windows, and smaller/narrower slat options used for smaller windows and rooms.
