What blinds are in style, 2021? White, grey, and neutral-hued blinds are overall the most popular or most requested colour families for roller blinds, real wood Venetian blinds, and faux-wood Venetian blinds alike.
When it comes to roller blinds and Roman blinds, you also have the option of designs and patterns to choose from as well as masses of different colours, and certain designs and themes are particularly hot this year, which I’ll talk about later on.
If you’re looking for more information on what blinds are in style, 2021’s key themes and some insider info on the most popular types of window blinds for 2021 are outlined below.
White/grey/neutral window blinds always sell well
When it comes to white, grey, and generally neutral shades of window blinds, calling these the “most popular” is certainly true in literal terms based on how many leave us for their new forever homes each day, but it is also somewhat misleading.
This is because neutrals like these tend to be chosen on the basis of blending in and/or not conflicting with an existing design theme, rather than having one of its own.
They’re always our bread-and-butter blinds because they don’t stick their heads above the parapet, rather than it being the case that 2021’s key theme is white and grey. Although, grey does in fact have a little more to add to the conversation in this instance, which I will cover in the final section.
Blinds that glow in the dark and superhero character blinds are very popular with “children…”
Setting the grey/white/neutrals aside for a moment, what are the most popular blinds patterns for 2021? Our most in-demand children’s blinds of the year are these frankly very cool glow in the dark stars roller blinds, which we sort of market towards children but also, feel like we sell a goodly proportion to adults as well.
Some of our other bestsellers are also blinds for children’s rooms (or not) with Star Wars, Spiderman, Mickey Mouse, and other licensed Disney/Marvel character blinds being fairly solid in terms of kids getting obnoxious to their parents about wanting them. Thanks, kids.
Roman blinds in modern designer prints are totally a thing too
For grownups (the real kind, not the “I’m 37 and have an Iron Man blind” kind) some of our bestselling window blinds include Orla Kiely Roman blinds. This is particularly interesting (if you’re a blinds geek, anyway) as these prints give a fairly fresh, modern take on Romans, which many people automatically assume only style well in very classical designs for traditionally styled houses; which is not the case!
What window blind colours are most popular in 2021?
Colour-wise, blue shades ranging from light blue to ink have proven really popular, as has grey as a colour statement in itself this year; rather than as a fairly safe neutral in terms of both “won’t clash with anything whilst also disguising dust.”
This latter is possibly due in part to “Ultimate Grey” (17-5104) being chosen as one of Pantone’s two colours of the year for 2021. Their other colour of the year, “Illuminating” (13-0647) hasn’t really had the same sort of impact, potentially because it’s a little more acidy on the eyes than most householders would want in blinds form, given that closed blinds can take up a significant amount of your visual real estate.
